Warning: The following contains spoilers for NCIS : Los Angeles Flavour thirteen, Episode 1, "Subject 17," which aired Sunday October 10th on CBS.

Kensi and Deeks, or Densi, every bit the couple is known, have been together for more than half the run of NCIS: Los Angeles. They've been married for a few seasons. And fifty-fifty before that, they've been joking almost shared "baby mutant ninja assassins." With most of the by season spent on the couple's pregnancy problems, the new flavour looks to be the one where Densi will finally have a kid – one way or another.

When Kensi and Deeks first met, it was hard to imagine them actually working well together, much less what has come after. But thirteen seasons in – Deeks made his offset advent at the end of the first flavour of the testify – they've get not just one of TV's near solid couples, only 1 of the few we would really similar to see get pregnant.

The jokes started long before they got married, all the fashion back during Flavour 3, Episode 22, "Neighborhood Lookout man." Back and then, as Kensi and Deeks posed equally an undercover couple, Deeks made a jokey proposition to their future kids. Come season 13, it's no longer a joke, it's a thing they both badly want. And a thing, it seems, won't come piece of cake for them.

It isn't a new conversation, though. Though Flavor 12 dealt with their fertility problems head on, the ii had been talking nigh the possibility of kids – and what information technology would hateful considering their high stakes jobs – fifty-fifty before they were married. The conversation was always put off, something to consider later. In fact, the starting time few times they discussed this topic, Deeks seemed to be much more than enthused about the thought than Kensi ways.

The show never painted Kensi as someone who didn't want kids, however, simply someone who was clearly taking her time to consider what that would mean for her – and whether she was willing to brand the career sacrifices required. Later the couple got married in Season 10, Episode 17, "Till Decease Do Us Part," information technology all turned much more real, and the conversations started becoming much more firsthand. Then, in Flavour 11, Kensi are Deeks are finally shown to be on the aforementioned folio.

Merely, unlike shows where the couple decides they want to get pregnant and it immediately happens, NCIS: Los Angeles has thrown an obstruction or five Densi's way. The ii take been trying for almost two seasons at present, gone through fertility treatment later fertility treatment, and in the Season 13 premiere, are revealed to now be considering adoption.

Near the cease of the premiere, titled "Subject field 17," Kensi and Deeks once once again discuss the topic – with Kensi stating that though she loves the idea of adoption, and probably wants to exercise that regardless, she really wanted to have a infant with Deeks. He agrees and points out all that had to happen to get them to where they are, together, saying that, possibly, they only have to "trust the universe."

"What if the universe doesn't want us to accept a infant?" Kensi asks, to which, of course, Deeks makes a joke, to distract her – and united states of america. Except three seasons into a storyline that the show has planted seeds to since season 3, it doesn't seem similar that'south the example. Whether it be past adoption, or them actually getting meaning, flavor 13 might merely be the time we get payoff for this storyline. How that will touch the bear witness, however, remains to be seen.

To discover out if Kensi and Deeks will finish up having a baby, NCIS: Los Angeles air on Sundays on CBS.
